This is the life!

I'm not sure how we got so lucky, but Bart was able to get us the production rate that the crew is getting, and we are staying at the Waldorf Astoria. Seriously.

I'm not sure I can adequately describe how amazing it is. When Bart's driver, Ben, pulled up to the front of the hotel we were greeted by a genuinely smiling doorman wearing tails and a top hat. Every single person at this hotel is cheerful, helpful, and will make-procure-solve-answer any request-issue-query.  Here is our hotel from the street

The lobby, complete with a grand piano played wonderfully at various times of the day.

You go up the fastest, smoothest, quietest elevator I've ever been on to our rooms on the 10th floor.
I can't imagine what they do to soundproof these rooms between floors and on the sides, but whatever it is it works.  They are totally silent. The floor to ceiling velvet drapes help, and so must the double wall of windows that can open.  There is about 10 inches of spaces between the inner and outer window walls.

Our door has a door bell and a red or green light for housekeeping. There are many different lights and configurations of them including a genii master button by the door and bed that can turn everything off or on at the same time.

Here are a couple of shots.

This office area has a chagrin station under that white door on the right complete with cords and every kind of plug you can imagine, a computer keyboard on a pull out tray under the door in the left that is connected to the TV, and Mac mini and super drive in the pull out tray in the center that is also connected to the TV.

The closets have specialized wood and satin padded hangars for a variety of clothing, drawers, shoe racks, a complete shoe shine and care service tray, and extra pillows and blankets.  The mini bar is actually a mini bar.  They have a beautiful coffee set and tea service complete with a wide selection of coffees, teas, and the fixin's.  Wine and various wine glasses, and snacks. In case you're interested, the Snickers bar is 8€.

The view is pretty great. And you can see there is a major train station on the opposite corner from the hotel.  We can't hear a thing.

The bathroom is like a spa.  The mirror is lit all the way around, there is a magnifying mirror that is lit as well (essential for us with middle-aged eyes, but also alarming to see the wrinkles up close and personal), lovely marble floors, counters, and walls, a deep tub with two faucets including a shower head one, heated floors, a blow dryer as nice as the one my stylist uses, and...a TV in the mirror so you can watch the World Cup while luxuriating in the bath.

But the best part of all is the bed.  We all agree that these are the most comfortable beds any of us have ever slept in. I can't get over the sheets. They are perfectly crisp and soft at the same time.  They feel amazing against your face. We have spent a ridiculous amount of time talking about the beds, the bedding, the pillows, and researching how we can find out what kind of pillows and sheets these are and where we can buy them.  They. Are. Amazing.

Oh, and here is the pillow menu.

After we got settled in that first night and were still giggling and in awe, Lori asked me how long I thought it would take before we started to feel like this is how we should always live.  After a moment of careful consideration, I said three days.

I was right.
